Our Property

Can I bring my pets with me?


We are happy to advise that we are a pet friendly property, but this is restricted to the standard cabins only, pets are not permitted in our large cabin. There is a one-off booking pet fee of $25 regardless of how many pets you bring & a pre authorised security bond of $200 which will be processed in the event of damage or excess cleaning required. Pets must be well-behaved and kept under control at all times. Owners must clean up after their pets, not leave them unattended inside the cabins at any time and not leave them on the property unattended. We remind guests that animals, other than service animals, are not permitted in the National Parks so alternate arrangements will need to made. We are investing in dog runs with kennels to assist guests and hope to have these available by winter 2021.




Do you have Canoes and Kayaks?


Yes we do. We have 2-person canoes, 3-person canoes and kids kayaks for use free of charge. We also provide paddles and life-jackets.




Do people live on the property?


Yes, this is our family home and we live here year-round.




Do you have BBQ facilities?


Each cabin has two firepits outside. One for a campfire and one for a wood-fired BBQ. We do not have electric or gas BBQ’s available.




Do you supply firewood?


Whilst we do not supply firewood, guests are welcome to collect firewood from the property. Alternatively, they can bring it with them. Guests are NOT permitted to use chainsaws on the property.




Can we bring our dirt bikes to the property?


Dirt bikes are not permitted on the property.




Can we go 4WD-ing on the property?


Whilst we are a 4WD-access only property, we do not have 4WD tracks and guests are only permitted to drive on the road between the cabins and the entrance to the property.




Should I bring my groceries with me?


We do recommend guests bring all their supplies with them. The nearest supermarkets are in Jindabyne or Cooma, a 50 minute drive from our location.




Do you have mobile service or wi-fi? Do you have tv’s?


Mobile service on our property is extremely limited, with Telstra generally providing the best service. We do not offer wi-fi and the cabins do not have televisions. We provide guests with a break from technology. If guests have a genuine need for internet access, we do have a Telstra phone booster at our house or can provide limited wi-fi access at reception.




Do you offer horse riding?


No, we do not offer horse riding on the property. There are a number of locations in the region where horse riding is available and we recommend guests do an internet search to find the most suitable option for them.




Can we hunt on the property?


Guests are not permitted to hunt on our property. Firearms and other hunting tools are not permitted on the property by guests.




How can family and friends contact me if there is an emergency?


Our phone number is 02 6456 5176 and we can pass on messages to guests in emergencies.




Do you have a laundry?


Yes, we have a communal laundry with free washing machine. We do not have a dryer and guests should bring their own detergent with them.




Do you have luggage storage available?


As we are a farmstay, we are frequently out of reception and working on the property. As a result, we do not offer luggage storage as we cannot provide a secure location for the storage.




What activities can I do on the property?


Our property is unqiue destination best suited to those looking to escape the hustle and bustle and disconnect during their stay. Enjoy your days bushwalking or mountain biking on our basic trails, picnicing, capturing photos of some amazing scenery and animals, swimming in the warmer months, sessions in our wood fired sauna, canoeing year round, or chilling out at your cabin or around a campfire (pending fire bans). We do no offer any guided or organised activities.




Can we have parties and music at the property?


We are a family-friendly property and a property where people come to get away from the hustle and busltle of everyday life. As such, we do not allow parties and events. Whilst guests are more than welcome to have music at their cabin, this should not be of a volume where it causes disturbance to other guests.





Getting Here

How do we get to the property?


We provide all guests with written directions in the days leading up to their stay. GPS programmes such as Google and Apple maps are incorrect due to numerous changes on the roads that have not been updated. Following GPS directions will get you lost.

If you are not used to driving on country roads you may find the lack of street lighting very different. Please be aware of animals such as livestock, kangaroos and wombats on the roads and drive carefully. When driving at night it will often feel like you have driven a lot further than you actually have, so it is important to set the trip meter in you car so that you can follow the direction accurately.




Do I need a 4WD? Why?


You require a 4WD vehicle due to the rough roads and causeway crossing required to get to Snowy River Cabins. You require a 4WD or AWD with a minimum of 200mm of ground clearance.




Can we bring our non-4WD and walk the last bit to the property?


No, this is not a practical solution. There is a causeway (water crossing) immediately before the property. The last 5km to our location is through private properties and vehicles cannot be left on our neighbours properties.




We are two families travelling together but only one of us have a 4WD. Can we ‘car shuffle’?


No, this is not a practical solution. The last 5km to our location is through private properties and vehicles cannot be left on our neighbours properties. The nearest town where a vehicle could potentially be left is Berridale, 20km away.




Do we need snow chains in winter?


Whilst you don’t need snow chains to access Snowy River Cabins, even for 4WD vehicles it is recommended to carry properly fitting snow chains when driving between the June and October long weekends whilst travelling to the snow fields.




Can we go fishing at the property?


We have approximately 1.5km of river frontage to the Snowy River. Our guests are more than welcome to fish from the banks (with appropriate licences if required). We ask guests to remain on our side of the river and within the boundaries of our property.





Our Cabins

Do we share a cabin with other people?


No, you book the cabin for your exclusive use.




How many people can stay in the cabin and can we bring bedding for additional guests?


Our standard cabins cater for 6 guests, with the large cabin catering for 8 guests. Additional guests and bedding are not permitted beyond the maximum numbers.




Do your cabins have bunk beds?


Yes, all cabins have a double bed and bunk beds.




What is in the cabins?

Each cabin has a bedroom with a double bed, a bathroom with vanity, toilet and shower and a kitchen. The living area has a dining table and seats as well as two bunks beds. Heaters and fans are provided, and each cabin has an iron and ironing board. There is a small patio with outdoor chairs. Each cabin has their own campfire pit and wood-fired BBQ pit.




How big is the fridge? What cooking supplies are provided?

Our cabins have full-sized fridges (Approx 240L) with freezer, not a bar fridge. Our cabins have a small oven with dual cooktop, microwave, kettle, toaster and Aldi Coffee pod machine. We provide pots, pans, cooking utensils, cutlery and crockery.




What linen do we need to bring?


Guest need to bring bed sheets, pillow slips and towels with them. We provide mattress protectors, pillows in protectors, blankets and doonas in covers. We also provide a tea towel, hand towel and bathmat.




What type of coffee machine is in the cabins?


The cabins have a pod coffee machine that uses K-Fee pods available from Aldi.




How far apart are the cabin from each other?


The cabins are spaced approximately 50m from each other.




Are the cabins heated?


Yes, they sure are. Each cabin has electric heaters in both the living/bunk area and the bedroom.




Do the cabins have hot water?


Yes, each cabin has its own hot water service.





Nearby Services

Where is the nearest Service Station?


The nearest service station is located at Berridale, 20km from our location. All service stations in the region have alpine diesel.




Where are the nearest groceries stores?


The nearest grocery stores are location in Jindabyne and Cooma, 50km from our location. With that in mind, we recommend all guests arrive with at least their first day worth of food so you don’t need to turn around upon arrival to head back and do your groceries.




Are there any nearby restaurants?


A few km’s down the road is Snowy Vineyard and Microbrewery who provide meals at limited times. Buckley’s Crossing Pub and Tuscany in Dalgety offer meals as does the Country Club in Berridale. There are a number of restaurant options in both Jindabyne and Cooma.





Visiting The Snow

Does it snow at the property?


Whilst it can snow at the property, it is not often and rarely settles on the ground. Guests will generally need to drive into the Kosciuszko National Park to see snow.




How far are you from the ski resorts?


Both Thredbo and Perisher are approximately 75 minutes’ drive from our location. Selwyn Snowfields is approximately 2 hours drive.




Where can I get a National Parks Entry Pass?


Passes can be purchased at the park entry gates or at the visitors information centres in Cooma or Jindabyne.




Do you offer ski, board and snow chain hire?


No, we do not offer hire. These are readily available at a number of rental shops and service stations in Cooma, Berridale and Jindabyne.





Booking Conditions

Can I change or cancel my booking?


Amendments

Amendments are subject to availability. Any amendments to bookings will incur a $25 administration fee. Please note bookings moved between Off Peak, Shoulder and Peak periods will have different rates and the difference in rate will be also be applied to bookings moved between these periods.

Cancellations

  • More than 14 days prior to your scheduled check-in time: a $25 administration fee will apply
  • 8-14 days prior to your scheduled check-in time: 30% of your total booking fee will be taken as a cancellation fee.
  • 7 days or less prior to your scheduled check-in time: a 100% cancellation fee will apply.




What is the age of 'children' for bookings?


Any one under the age of 18 is considered a child, and children aged 2 and under are considered infants. Children and infants stay free-of-charge when booking directly through our website.




What time is check in and check out?


Check in is from 3pm and check out is before 10am. If you will be arriving late, please let us know so that we can provide alternate check in arrangements. Guest who have not departed by 10am may incur additional fees. As we are a family run business, we don’t have a team of cleaners and the cabins are cleaned by a single person. With this in mind we ask that guests are prompt with their check out to allow us enough time to clean all cabins before the 3pm check in time.




Can I request a particular cabin?


Yes and we will do our best to organise this however please note that all cabin requests are on a request basis only and cannot be guaranteed.




Can we book multiple cabins?


You are able to book multiple cabins using the booking widget on our bookings page. While we will do our best, we are not always able to ensure adjacent cabins.
